We are proud to share that Dr. Hirdi Henriett, President of the FOHNEU, served as the chairperson at the 10th European Transcultural Nursing Association International Conference, held in Budapest from June 22-25, 2025. Additionally, she delivered an insightful presentation. Her talk, titled "Culturally Competent Care: Addressing the Occupational Health Challenges of Migrant Workers", highlighted the importance of culturally responsive approaches in occupational health.

We are proud to share that Dr. Hirdi Henriett, President of FOHNEU, delivered a closing speech at the Journées Nationales d’Études et de Formation (JEF) 2025 in Strasbourg.

The event focused on "The transformation of work and its impact on health, prevention, and nursing practice in occupational health." Dr. Hirdi's contribution highlighted the vital importance of international cooperation, professional development, and the recognition of occupational health nurses within the EU.

Her participation underscored FOHNEU’s essential role in shaping the future of occupational health nursing across Europe.

The Spanish Association of Occupational Health Nursing (AET) has announced a change in its representation within the Federation of Occupational Health Nurses within the European Union (FOHNEU). Dr. Gema Arévalo Alonso and Dr. Alfonso Meneses Monroy, who previously served as AET’s representatives, have stepped down.

Dr. Manuel Romero Saldaña and Dr. Javier González Caballero will now assume these roles, attending future FOHNEU meetings and fostering ongoing cooperation in occupational health nursing across Europe.

 We are excited to announce that the 8th FOHNEU International Congress will take place in the vibrant city of Cork, Ireland, 2-3 October 2025.

130 Years Since the Birth of Dr. Mária Baloghy – Pioneer of Occupational Health Nursing Education in Hungary

On February 22, 2025, we commemorate the 130th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Mária Baloghy, a visionary educator and social reformer who laid the foundations for industrial health nursing and occupational health nurse training in Hungary.

Born in 1895 in Kassa (Košice), Dr. Baloghy dedicated her life to improving women’s education, workplace conditions, and health protection. In the early 1930s, she established the Budapest Social Women’s School, introducing specialized courses such as the Factory Health Nurse Training Program, which became a cornerstone of occupational health services in Hungary.

Her tireless efforts included:

• Advocating for women’s professional opportunities and workplace safety
• Creating practical health and social care training programs
• Publishing educational and literary works to promote health and social awareness

Dr. Baloghy’s legacy lives on in the modern occupational health nursing profession, which continues to uphold her vision of protecting workers’ health and well-being.

Today, we honor her pioneering spirit and lasting impact on occupational health and nursing education.
